Making it home – kitchen painting

The kitchen addition that we started early last summer came to a screeching halt in early fall when we ran out of essential resources – time and money. We’ve been picking away at it a little at a time, and this past weekend he was able to finish up the framing of the windows. And of course, once it was ready for paint, we were both anxious to get it painted.

Most of my family and friends know how much I love the transformative power of paint. For not a whole lot of money you can change the look and feel of an entire room. Because of that, I tend to paint often, but I also spend weeks pondering colors and combinations to get it just right. We had swatches of color hanging for many days, trying to pick just the right shades of color, viewing them at different times of day and in different weather conditions to make sure we liked our choice under both cloudy skies and sunny. Because while I do paint often, I don’t like having to do it because I picked a garish shade.

Finally we decided, and once the decision was made we couldn’t wait to get that color on the walls and window frames. So, this was our weekend project, in between running Middles to and from social events.

The new kitchen space (and paint) isn’t finished, but it is shaping up to be the warmest and happiest room in our home. Just what a kitchen should be, yes?
