Thrifted Curtains

We haven’t been getting a lot of work done on our big house projects, so I’m working on doing little things to make our spaces a bit cozier and brighter. I’ve been looking for some fabric to make a new valance for the kitchen window, but I haven’t found just the right fabric yet.  And then on a recent trip… Read More »Thrifted Curtains

    In Our Home

A list things that we’re doing lately – besides watching the most adorable kitten snuggles (they’re getting so big!). What I’m cooking:: ~ Bread pudding. For breakfast. Enjoyed by all but one.  I used this recipe, doubled. What I’m reading::~ Harry Potter, book six. I’ve never read them before. Such good books! ~ We also just finished listening to The… Read More »In Our Home

      Enchanted Seat

I moved this seat into the mudroom to see how it would look, and it was perfect. And when I happened upon it later in the day, this sweet princess was found sleeping upon it. I do believe it must be enchanted, though the princess was able to awaken on her own, no prince required.

        Mudroom – hooks and trim

This weekend we continued to work on our new mudroom.  It’s coming along quite nicely.  We tiled the floor two weeks ago and grouted it last week, and I LOVE the way it turned out!  We also built a small deck off the back last weekend, but we still need to add steps to it. (If you follow me on… Read More »Mudroom – hooks and trim

          Almost new

This little table has been living here for a couple of years, just begging to be made over. I didn’t really have a place for it or a purpose, so it just waited in line patiently for its turn in a very long line of things to be done. But finally I had a moment and a vision and the… Read More »Almost new

            Something Simple

Amidst all the building activity we’ve had going on here (see this post and this one, and there’s this one, too, and even more I haven’t shown you yet), I needed to do something pretty simple, start to finish, done in just a snap. My ironing board volunteered for the task. The cover had been quite worn, and in fact,… Read More »Something Simple

              Adding On

Once upon a time, there was a Little Cottage who was looking for a family. Not just any family would do, this Little Cottage was looking for a family who laughed and who loved and who would fill the rooms with joy. A family was found, and the Little Cottage was happy and full and bright. The passing years… Read More »Adding On

New Clothes for the Patio Chairs

The old covers were falling apart in my hands. The hardest part of making these was picking out the fabric, but once that was in hand, it was a simple matter of tracing, cutting, stitching two dozen ties together, a bit of pinning and a few more stitches, and … Done. Perfect? No.  So much better, Yes?

                  Found

Friday night on my way inside after taking care of the goats and chickens, I passed by our dog, Abby who was staring up at a tree. It’s common behavior for her, as she takes her squirrel and chipmunk chasing career pretty seriously. So as I walked by I glanced up at the tree to see if I could spy… Read More »Found
