Spring Weekend

While the calendar told us of Spring’s official arrival nearly a month ago, this weekend was, for us, the first full spring weekend.  We’ve had beautiful warm days already, but this weekend was time for outside cleaning up and pea planting.  So that’s what we did. Sophie helped me get the peas in.  The garden area is in a rather… Read More »Spring Weekend

    At Least They’re Reading

I’ve been working my way S-L-O-W-L-Y through the abyss basement, clearing out things we don’t want or need any longer, setting aside things to sell or donate.  Unfortunately, the Littles discovered one of those boxes set aside. A box of Barbies. Now, please remember that we’ve been on this parenting gig for over 27 years, so a lot of how… Read More »At Least They’re Reading

      Knitting with the Littles

My little girls (ages 6 and 7) have been watching me knit for years. They’ve asked to learn, and I tried to teach them, but they found it frustrating when their fingers didn’t do what they wanted. So we took a break from actual knitting and they spent some time learning the basics on a Knitting Mushroom (like this one)… Read More »Knitting with the Littles

        Dreaming in Legos

We still haven’t finished up the interior of our new mudroom ( here, and here) and bedroom  expansions in our home, but we’re using those spaces and loving every square inch we built.  So, of course, I’m dreaming about another home addition.  We love our home, and we don’t want it to be overly large, and I admire those who live well in small spaces.… Read More »Dreaming in Legos

          Making Way

I’ve been sewing a lot this week. Like, more than I have this whole year, a lot (if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see a few hints of a little of what I’ve been making). And I’ve been loving every second of it. I’ve learned a few things while I’ve been at my task, and not just about the… Read More »Making Way

            Enchanted Seat

I moved this seat into the mudroom to see how it would look, and it was perfect. And when I happened upon it later in the day, this sweet princess was found sleeping upon it. I do believe it must be enchanted, though the princess was able to awaken on her own, no prince required.

              Closing summer

Summer has been lingering long around these parts, though I’m not really complaining. The Littles still ask frequently if we can go to the beach, and it has certainly been hot enough, but I haven’t quite found the time (or energy or motivation) to get there, as Home has so many needs right now.  After a week of two of… Read More »Closing summer

                Hunting for Treasure

While my husband was working on the addition, the Littles were eating lunch on the back deck. Husband was putting some roofing shingles on, peeling off the paper backing and setting it aside. A swift breeze came by, picking up one of the discarded papers and sending it down to the table where the Littles were sitting –  a brown… Read More »Hunting for Treasure

                  Rope Baskets Given

The rope basket making (and therapy) continues. Last week I made a basket for my Dad for Father’s Day. I took a picture before I sent it out. He said the “hat” was a little small. 😉 I’m not sure what he’ll end up using it for, but I made one for us that we keep our cooking spoons in… Read More »Rope Baskets Given
