The rope basket making (and therapy) continues. Last week I made a basket for my Dad for Father’s Day. I took a picture before I sent it out. He said the “hat” was a little small. 😉 I’m not sure what he’ll end up using it for, but I made one for us that we keep our cooking spoons in next to the stove. I like his better.
I also stitched up a quick bag as a gift. It’s on it’s way to the recipient today, carried by my Middles who are traveling to Virginia to celebrate the friend’s graduation and birthday. I don’t think she reads my blog, so I’m pretty safe posting it today.
The handles are a little wonky, as I was just stitching along and then suddenly realized I was almost out of rope. I wanted the handles to be longer, but I had to do them shorter because of my distraction. I think it’s a perfect beach bag size – just right for a towel, a book and a water bottle (doesn’t everyone take a book to the beach?).
The color didn’t show up very well, but the bottom is green (her favorite color). I had to take a hasty photo on the way out the door to dropping Zach and Maddie off for the road trip. I would have liked to make a better bag for the gift, but it was a bit of a last minute plan for them to go, so I didn’t have a chance to do it over.
This rope making is still fun. though one of my sewing machines won’t handle the zigzag stitch anymore, even after being serviced. Lucky for me I have a back up or three. 🙂
