Stash sewing – A Dress for Sophie

I’ve decided recently that I need to get rid of some of the fabric in my collection.  I’ve had some of it for more years than I’d like to count, and have moved it from house to house too often.  But some of it is far too pretty to just donate away, so I’m going to sew my way through it.

I finished sewing this dress for Sophie yesterday.  The pattern is the perfect mix of vintage style and the fabric seemed just perfect for it.  I did a couple of modifications – lengthening the bodice and the skirt so it would (I hope) fit for more than just a few months.   The split skirt sides and the way it makes the dress look almost like an apron are such sweet vintage style touches, and those box pleats! Oh my!  I think I might have to make a few more of these.  Sophie approves and after I asked her to try it on she decided to keep it on for the rest of the day – a sign that it’s comfortable as well as downright pretty.  If you sew, you can buy the pattern here.

I still have a quilt for Silas on my sewing table.  He’s been very patient waiting for it, but I think it needs to move to the top of my list this week.
